Born in Bradford, Richard Illingworth spent the vast majority of his playing career with Worcestershire, spending 18 years at New Road. A left arm spinner he also played 9 tests and 25 ODIs for England, including two World Cups in 1992 & 1996.
After his playing career Richard turned to umpiring, and his continued success in England meant he was first promoted to the ICC International list of umpires in 2009, and then in 2013 he joined the ICC's elite umpire panel. Richard has also achieved the ultimate accolade of being named ICC Umpire of the Year 3 times to date, in 2019, 2022 & 2023.
Richard has a wealth of experience and no shortage of great cricketing stories to share from his globe trotting, so please do not miss our penultimate speaker of the 2024/25 season.
